Blade
RE:Vision tools were used extensively by different effects houses in Blade 2. In this sequence executed at Core Digital Pictures, Blade was slowed down by a factor of 2 with Twixtor in Digital Fusion to match the rest of the shots. Luma keys were extracted for the foreground water and passed to Twixtor's foreground masking option so that the water motion did not affect the tracking of the main action.

Driven
For the climactic "Memo's Crash" sequence in DRIVEN, Pixel Magic was tapped to create super-slow-motion animation of a racecar slamming into a guardrailing and catching air. To create the appearance of super slow motion, averaging around 1/20th real time, compositing supervisor Todd Vaziri had to slow down the flame elements immensely. He was able to do it with Twixtor, in Adobe After Effects. "Twixtor worked absolutely flawlessly for this project. It created perfect in-between frames for the flame elements. There is no way the fire would have looked convincing without Twixtor. Simple frame blending or double printing would have totally ruined the shot," Vaziri said.

Ryan McFauls says, "Gay Boyfriend uses lots of Twixtor for the unglamorous task of fixing bad lipsync, and it also use Fields Kit to make a really beautiful 60i to 24P video slow-mo. Best of all the video looks great and was made for an incredible $1800."

The Secret of the Sapphires
"This SECRET OF THE SAPPHIRES test benefits greatly from RE:Vision Effects products." Twixtor and RE:Flex were used to help in between the original sparse cels, and Shade/Shape was used to help provide the shading.

Two objects passing each other in a scene can cause Twixtor to exhibit some "gloopiness." In this slow-motion example, a hand passing in front of a face can cause Twixtor to exhibit such a problem. By supplying Twixtor Pro with a foreground mask for the hand we avoid the "gloopiness" and create a superior slow-motion sequence. |
